A True Lady If There Ever Was One

Lustrous hair, bountiful nature
Demure in spirit, generous in action
Without a stitch of clothing on her
To elevate the condition of her people
Braving modesty and convention
She rode alone through the streets of Coventry
Foreign sounds of hooves galloping
And yet not a single glance thrown her way
Except a "Peeping Tom" who dared to look upon her beauty
Struck blind for his effrontery
Ending the ride with thunderous cheers
And a removal of all the dues from her Lord Husband
Immortalising passion and sensuality
Leaving behind an indelible impression
Such that, centuries begone inspired
The creation of the food of Gods

  1. The taste of chocolate lingers even after you have finished it. But that's the way chocolate is! Some say chocolate is the replacement of love, some say it is the food of Gods. Either ways, one can't help falling in love with chocolate.

One of the most famous chocolates in the world is Godiva. But to understand the legacy of Godiva, we have to dig deep into the pages of history.

Years ago in the eleventh century, Lord Leofric from Coventry, England levied oppressive taxes on his subjects. His beautiful and generous wife opposed these taxes and demanded her husband to withdraw them. After a lot of nagging, in exchange of removing the taxes, Lord Leofric made an unreasonable demand of his pious wife. If Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets, and if the people of the city remained inside, the taxation would be lifted.

Lady Godiva agreed to this bargain and her beloved people out of respect of her stayed indoors with curtains drawn on the morning of the ride. Except a man named Tom had watched her ride and was struck blind or dead. The name "Peeping Tom" for a voyeur originated here.

However, admiring the spirit of his wife, Lord Leofric removed the taxes and thus immortalized Lady Godiva's name in history.

Centuries later, Joseph Draps, a renowned Belgian chocolatier, created a line of chocolates with extraordinary richness and design, a collection of passion and purity. He sought a name that embodied the timeless qualities of passion, style, sensuality and modern boldness.

    His choice?

    Godiva.

I'll never for get, the way you look tonight"
