The love story of Eros & Psyche is the simplest of love stories in the gamut of complex stories told in Greek mythology. In fact instead of a myth, it can be labelled a fairy tale if one so wishes it to be so. After all most fairy tales have a similar story line.
ReplyDeleteJealous of the beauty of youngest daughter of a king, Aphrodite cursed her to never be able to have a suitor even if people thought she was more beautiful than the Goddess herself. Psyche finally decides to end her life and jumps off a cliff, but Zephyr - the West Wind carries her to a palace where she meets and falls in love with Eros, Aphrodite's son without seeing his face.
Trials ensue and she is separated from her beloved husband once she sees his face by deceit. In order to gain her husband back, she is faced with numerous tasks by Aphrodite. Finally intervention by Zeus made her a Goddess in her own right and united her with her husband. She had a daughter - Pleasure.
